Financial Tips for the Season

  • Smart Summer Spending

    • Create a seasonal budget: Often times summer brings extra expenses like travel, events, or kids’ activities. Plan ahead so your spending stays on track.

    • Watch impulse spending: Set daily limits when traveling or attending events - festivals, fairs, and vacations can add up quickly.

  • Travel Wisely

    • Book early and compare prices for flights, hotels and rentals

    • Set a vacation budget to avoid coming home to unexpected debt

  • Manage Utility Costs

    • Reduce energy usage: Use fans, adjust thermostat settings, and unplug unused electronics

    • Check for energy-saving programs from your utility provider

  • Plan for Big Expenses

    • Summer home and repair projects are common - budget ahead and get multiple quotes

    • Avoid financing more than you can comfortably repay

  • Prepare for Back-to-School Early

    • Watch for summer sales to save on supplies and clothing

    • Spread purchases out to avoid a financial spike in the fall

  • Stay Aware of Fraud

    • Monitor your accounts regularly, especially when you are traveling

    • Be cautious using public Wi-Fi - avoid accessing financial accounts unless on a secure connection

  • Keep Saving

    • Even with extra spending, try to continue contributing to savings - even small amounts can add up

    • Consider setting aside money for holiday expenses later in the year

Discontinuation of FedGlobal® ACH Payments and the Foreign and Canadian Check Services

What’s Happening?

Federal Reserve financial Services (FRFS) previously announced the decision to discontinue FedGlobal ACH Payments to Mexico and Panama and to sunset the Foreign and Canadian check Service by year-end 2026. This is driven by steep declines in transaction volumes reflecting diminished market relevance.

How long will forward and return items be accepted?

  • FedGlobal ACH Payments will accept forward items originated to Mexico or Panama until Nov. 20.

  • Foreign and Canadian Check Services will accept forward items deposited until Dec. 4.

  • FRFS will maintain return item flows for both services consistent with applicable law, FedGlobal ACH gateway operators and Foreign check correspondent agreement terms, Operating Circulars 3 and 4, and all other procedures.
